Portal - a site designed for a wide audience and equipped with services for work, entertainment or communication. When choosing an online resource for work, business representatives choose the portals as a platform for forming an audience of potential customers. The user's interest is caused by the external attractiveness of the resource, and the "usefulness" of its services. The more useful services, the more users remaining on the site, a significant part of which will eventually become customers or advertisers.

The main difference between a site and a portal is that the content of the portal is created by the users themselves, based on their own interests. A successful business idea, competent technical implementation and, most importantly, continuous development and the pursuit of excellence ensured the tremendous success of giant networks such as Facebook, VKontakte and others. It is not necessary to come up with an idea from scratch, you can copy an existing one, make some services better and rely on approximately the same results (of course, with the same investments in project marketing).

Step 1. Choosing a resource type

Determining the purpose of creating a resource is the main thing in the project. After answering the question why and for whom the resource is being created, it determines the type of portal suitable for achieving the goals:

Informational: useful textual and visual content - articles, photos, video, audio. The main thing on such a resource is the convenience of the search and the possibility of interactive communication.

Portals of the provision of services: market passes, entries in the queue, paperwork, checking the status of service, making changes to the existing plan and others. Such portals are used, for example, to provide public services and in business of various sizes. The main thing at such a site is the intuitive interface, ease of filling out forms, the ability to get prompt assistance in case of difficulties.

Corporate resources: closed social networks, access to which only employees of corporations or members of certain associations have access to. In the development of such portals, social networking technologies are used. Users are united by a common theme - work, professional interests, hobbies. Users can safely communicate with members of their group, post information without fear of extraneous curiosity, and do teamwork.

Message boards and forums: platforms for user communication in real time with the ability to transfer communication offline. Forums can be general, highly specialized or created for a specific topic and, accordingly, an audience.

Step 2. Project Development

Today, a new Internet project should have its own personality, its own face, so as not to get lost in the sea of template, similar resources, most of which are created on designers. Stages of development:

• Detailed study of the idea;
• Resource logic design;
• Design;
• development of interfaces;
• Creating thoughtful functionality;
• Launch and testing (catching errors) of the project;
• Promotion;
• Product technical support.

Public CMSs are not suitable for creating a highly loaded portal because they do not withstand a lot of traffic, overloaded functionality, and growing attendance. Sites on such an engine quickly “lay down”, and the user leaves. The project should be "horizontally-scalable", but public engines for creating regular sites are not suitable for these purposes. This is important to understand!

Step 3. Maintenance, support

A site designed for simultaneous visits by many users always needs continuous maintenance and round-the-clock technical support. Profitability of a business largely depends on the quality of the portal, timely updating, the introduction of new functionality and the competent implementation of ideas. Such work should be entrusted to specialists.

The Qwerty Social Network Engine platform is an in-house development of the European company Qwerty Networks, a special complex for creating highly loaded social networks and multifunctional Internet projects. The platform uses the capabilities of artificial intelligence, this is one of the priority areas of the company. On this platform, a lot of horizontally-scalable projects are implemented - social networks, dating sites, payment systems. The functionality of the platform allows you to create multilingual sites, which solves the problem of communication to users located in different parts of the world.

 Qwerty Networks is ready to offer a joint launch of projects whose idea will be interesting and worked out. In this case, the cost of developing the site will be reduced by at least half. In addition, the company incurs the costs of technical support and maintenance of the server infrastructure.
